This is a perfect small park to take a date for a romantic walk / hike. There are two walking path loops linked together that are about a mile long each. the walking paths are ashphalt, fairly flat, and very well shaded.
The wildlife out here is abundant, and deer are literally everywhere. I have never walked out here without seeing at least two or three dear. The dear also are so used to humans that some will even walk right up to you.
There are picnic pavillions equipped with grills, two boat ramps, and a really nice open play area if you and your date have children. The sunset is very romantic, and the entire park usually has just enough visitors around to feel like a good safe place for first dates, yet quiet enough to give the nice secluded personal getaway feel.
The park is located in Fayette County, and non-Fayette residents are required to pay a small parking fee to visit, but well worth the money. The closing times are 6:30 , and 8:30: Daylight Savings Time, so for the sunset experience you have to hit at the right times of the year.
Bring a camera. You will have tons of great photo opportunities here. This park is about 30 minutes from Franks Old Mill Restaurant, and makes a perfect place to go for a nice romantic stroll prior to dinner.
